Bull Sale Tips & Tricks

Bull Sale Tips & Tricks

Hi Honeys! I think this years Skinner Ranch Seedstock Bull Sale will be my 15th and I’m coming at all you ranchy babes with my hot tips for surviving sales this winter and spring.

TIP #1: LAYERS, my dears, layers… It is usually FREEZING cold outside and depending on the facilities the ranches have it might be quite warm in the sale barn or tight quarters. I like to have my outfits include a jacket or warmer layer that I can take off once things get ramped up.

TIP #2: Comfortable shoes > Cowboy boots. I said what I said. Listen, I spent the first 6-8 years of bull sales wearing “western” footwear to the sale and I HATED MY LIFE by hour 12 every single time. I prefer wearing, Nikes, hahaha SURPRISE! I run around all day on concrete and ice and then head home and host a women’s night at my house… your feet matter!

TIP #3: As an attendee of a bull sale, I think a hat is a great option. If you’re outside the wind/cold will be bearable and if you're in and out of a barn you don’t have to mess with your hair. For me, I usually roll with my hair in a every day curled vibe and half up so it’s not bugging me during the sale up in the block.

TIP#4: Eat normally if you have tummy probs, my honeypie. Here’s the 411 and probably TMI. I have severe gut issues hahaha! So what I have learned is that it’s best if I can eat as normally as possible on sale day so I don’t end up feeling not so good on the auction block or later in the evening when I’m trying to hang out with my friends. I eat my regular breakfast and do my morning lift or spin class. I bring a snack and lunch or something to go with the meat at the bull sale lunch and I eat a normal dinner before my friends come over.  If you have issues like me, just pack your foods before you go in case what they have for lunch at the bull sale you're attending doesn’t agree with you.

TIP #5: There is no limit of caffeine of bull sale days and if you’re able to eat gluten there is no limit to brownies. As my SIL, Michelle, would say there are no calories on bull sale day.

TIP #6: Have kids? Bring quiet activities for them. The sale is lonnngggg for a kid. Coloring or little toys that they can play with are essential and when Teag was a toddler we brought him a walker so he could scoot around and not be held all the time.

SEE YOU THERE! It's going to be a bizzzzy winter & spring, but at least we are going to be lookin' good & feelin' comfy doing it. Catch ya in the block!
