Holy moly pals. If you've been here before you know that I don't like messes and I can't function in chaos. What you might not know is I'm an extraverted introvert and the fair about kills me by the end. #stoptalkingtome 😂
In order to feel like I am at home and comfy while we are there, I give the camper a scrub down and pack like a raging hoarder meets a survive-all-incidents-prepper meets a I don't like clutter and dirt psychoranchwife. I know...weirdo alert.Â
I put together a little reel of me getting the ol camper ready. I would like to preface this with we have an old camper. I didn't want to spend a million dollars on something we aren't going to use that much AND I no intention EVER of remodeling a camper to make it modern and blah, blah, blah because it is a CAMPER. This is obviously a sensitive topic for me and I will get on with the show here.Â
First, I cleaned the windows and mirrors. You know get all the finger prints and fly poop off. I also used a cleaning spray like this to clean all the cabinet fronts and counter tops.Â
Next, the carpets were looking sad from last years fair and camping this summer so I used my trusty Resolve cleaner and some elbow grease to freshen them up. Then I vacuumed and mopped up with linoleum. We had some extreme weather this last year that cracked the linoleum and Timbuktu needs to tear it out and replace it, but for now I duct taped it down and put a rug over it. #classybroad
I always put as much of the food in clear bins organized by snacks, breakfasts, treats, etc and do the same for cleaning supplies, bathroom stuff and refrigerator items. ALWAY put meat in plastic, ziplock bags. (speaking from experience 🤮 )
I use these collapsible baskets from Costco to haul everything out to the camper and then collapsed them down to use for shoe and toy storage outside the camper at the fair.Â
We don't use our shower at the fair so I put a bucket (just in case) and my swiffer mop in there along with a laundry basket to put everyone's gross clothes in. I try to separate the dirty clothes this way and put the stuff that can be reworn, or isn't totally gross outside the basket or vice versa. Depends on the amount of room you have, but basically the bathtub is a big laundry basket and the actual laundry basket is for separating items.
We have huge storage areas under the bench seats for the table. On one side I store blankets and bedding for the kids and the other side is for their clothes.Â
