Health & Fitness + Business

Health & Fitness + Business

Discipline, homie. Discipline is paying off, in more ways than one.

After three C-sections and two major abdominal surgeries in nine years, being able to beast-mode the third set of single-leg tuck-ups makes this competitive a-hole’s heart flutter.

I would say that never in my life after kids was I “unhealthy,” but man… I was frustrated, with a capital F. Frustrated that I couldn’t do the things I once could. Frustrated that my body didn’t feel like my body anymore. Frustrated that even though I was giving my all, I still felt trapped in this constant loop of "meh".

Then I did something that changed everything: I hired someone to help me. Over the last year and a half, I’ve slowly (but confidently) healed my relationship with food, gained the tools I need to keep my (severe) anxiety in check, and gotten strongggggggg. #beefcake 😆 lolz (Sara, you brat.)

And the best part? The benefits didn’t stop when the workout was done. Here’s the thing people don’t talk about enough: when your physical and mental health improve, everything else improves, too. Including how you show up for your business.

How has this transferred into the business owner arena of Hayls Land? Welp, I come to work with more energy and LEAVE more fulfilled. I have the awareness to recognize and manage my stress, organize and operate my days based on achievable goals, and set clearer boundaries with my time. Most importantly, I have more fun doing what I love because I feel more confident and more Hayls-like.

And guess what? This shift hasn’t just changed me. It’s changed SRM.

Moral of the story: Your health and fitness are important, honey. SRM has grown from a 14x14 home office to a retail space, and now to one that’s three times bigger. We’ve gone from four part-timers to a team of two full-time and three part-time honeys. Our project load jumped from 15 a month to 40, and our average order size skyrocketed from 30 to averages in the hundreds each month. That steep growth of SRM this last year wouldn’t have been possible if I were still physically and mentally stuck on that not-feeling-like-me hamster wheel.

P.S. If you need to get your shit together, @melissaeich is your girl.

K, byeeee
